Sorry, I couldn’t resist. The set up was too perfect, though now we both have that song stuck in our heads from the Frozen movie.

Anyway! This snowman craft idea is a fun indoor activity to do on days when it’s too cold to play outside.

My kids love going outside to play in the snow, but we haven’t gotten as much snow this year as we usually do.

The snow we have gotten has not been ideal for making snowmen – it’s too light and powdery. You need good packing snow to make a snowman outside!

Take this project a step further by having the kids gather some pinecones from your yard to create this pinecone snowman craft. They’ll have fun creating a variety of snowmen for a cute wintery scene!

Craft supplies you will need to make cotton ball snowmen.

How to Make Cotton Ball Snowmen

Start by gluing two cotton balls together. I recommend using a tacky craft glue. You could also use a hot glue gun, especially if making these with older children.

Then cut an orange nose for each snowman from felt. If you don’t have felt on hand, you could also use thin craft foam or construction paper.

Next, glue two stick arms to the snowman. You can get the sticks from outside or you can use craft wood sticks like these.

To make earmuffs, glue on two pom poms to the top cotton ball.

Then glue two googly eyes on the top cotton ball and glue two buttons to the bottom cotton ball.

Since these snowmen are so small, you don’t need to add any other features unless you or the kids want to add something, such as a scarf using felt or yarn.

Wait for the glue to dry before playing with the snowmen.

You can use the snowmen to decorate your house or classroom, send them home with the kids to play with, or glue them to a piece of paper to make a 3D winter scene.
