How to Make a Tissue Paper Turkey

To begin, gather your supplies or create individual work stations for the children if working in a group. Cut or tear the tissue paper into smaller pieces.

Different colors of tissue paper squares glued onto turkey wood cutout.

Apply decoupage glue to the wooden turkey and carefully place the tissue paper, pressing it down to ensure it adheres.

Repeat this process until one side of the turkey is completely covered with tissue paper.

If any tissue paper hangs over the edge, you can trim it away or use glue to press and tuck it around the edges.

Apply a thin layer of glue over the top of the tissue paper and set it aside to dry. Repeat the same process on the other side.

It’s best to allow the turkeys to dry completely before poking a hole through the tissue paper. This will create a space to string twine or ribbon through, turning the ornament into a hanging decoration.

You can add the twine before starting, but be mindful that it may get in the way as the children add their tissue paper pieces.

Once the tissue paper painted turkeys are completely dry, you have the option to write the child’s name on one side. Finally, hang them up and enjoy these beautiful fall decorations.
