Easy DIY Felt Snowman Craft
These felt snowmen are perfect for kids to make at home or at school. It’s so sweet when they create holiday crafts like this that you can keep or give as a present.
Younger children may need more assistance with cutting out the felt pieces.
Having everything cut and ready to go ahead of time will allow younger kids to focus on assembling and decorating each snowman.
Older kids in the elementary school age range can practice tracing, cutting, gluing and measuring with a ruler to cut felt and ribbon.
These no sew felt ornaments can be decorated or left as simple felt shapes – they are cute to hang on your Christmas tree either way!

You can also decide whether to decorate only one side or both sides to create a two-sided ornament.
If decorating with preschoolers, you can have them “paint” with the glitter glue by smudging over dots and lines with a cotton swab.
The kids can also dip a q-tip into a small paint tray to dab dots onto the snowman to make buttons.
Create a sweet keepsake by adding names and dates to the back of the finished snowman ornaments with a permanent marker.
Also, the finished ornaments are lightweight and can easily be added into a holiday card for the perfect surprise for friends and family this holiday season.
While making the snowman, make the felt Christmas trees too! They make a great set of ornaments.

How to Make a No Sew Felt Snowman Ornament:
Start by printing and cutting out the Snowman Ornament template. These will be your patterns to trace on the felt.
Trace and cut out two snowman bodies on white felt and two hats on black felt for each ornament.

I recommend using an air soluble disappearing ink for tracing, especially on the white felt. You can use white disappearing ink, chalk or silver markers for tracing on the black felt.
Washable markers also work for tracing. Just be sure to have the trace lines turned inside before gluing.
Cut six inch lengths of ribbon for as many ornaments as you are making.
To assemble the snowman, squeeze a light layer of felt and foam tacky glue on one side of the snowman body shape.

At the top of the snowman’s head, loop and attach the ribbon.
Place the second snowman body on top of the glue covered body and line up the edges. Press down gently to glue them together.
Next, glue a hat to each side of the top of the body.

Now it’s time to decorate the snowman!
You can add 3 small buttons on the body with the tacky glue or use markers or glitter glue to make dots.

Cut a small triangle from the orange felt to make the nose and glue to the snowman’s face.
To add a scarf, cut a few strips of any color felt and glue it to the snowman (one across its neck and one or two hanging down).

Add fringe to the scarf by making small cuts on one end of the felt strip. Then decorate the scarf with glitter glue.

Allow plenty of drying time before hanging your ornament. Clothespins are great for holding the felt pieces together as they dry.
