Valentine’s Day Tissue Paper Heart Suncatcher
These heart suncatchers use a few common craft supplies and only take about 20 minutes to complete.
It’s a quick and easy craft to include in an art center during Valentine’s themed activities as well as for a Mother’s Day craft.
Making tissue paper suncatchers is a fun fine motor activity for preschool and kindergarten children that provides cutting and gluing practice.
Older children will also enjoy this quick craft that they can complete on their own.

It’s also the perfect craft project if you want the kids to craft with minimal mess.
If you don’t have tissue paper on hand, you can still use the heart craft template for other projects.
For example, kids can paint, color or decorate the hearts or cut the big heart shape out to make an easy DIY homemade Valentine.

How to Make a Heart Tissue Paper Suncatcher:
First you will need to download and print out our printable heart craft template. (It is file 124 in our free printable resource library.)
Please note: The template includes a couple different sizes for use in a variety of projects. The largest size was used for the suncatchers in these photos.
I recommend using regular printer paper for this project. The light will shine through plain printer paper easier than a heavier weight paper like cardstock.

Next you will need to cut your tissue paper into small one inch squares in a variety of colors. You can also buy pre-cut tissue paper squares for a quick and easy project.
Younger children could also rip the tissue paper into smaller pieces and older children could cut their own.

Then it is time to start gluing! Use liquid glue or glue sticks to cover the entire heart shape with tissue paper. It’s okay if the tissue paper overlaps or goes over the edges.
Set the suncatchers aside to dry. Once the glue is dry, cut out the template.

Use self-adhesive laminating sheets for a homemade Valentine decoration you can enjoy again, year after year!
Now you have pretty heart faux stained glass suncatchers made with tissue paper to hang in the window and enjoy!
Use these removable mounting tabs to make it super easy to display them around your home.
