Frog Paper Bag Puppet Craft
I think spring is such a fun time for craft projects and learning activities with kids, don’t you?
It’s a great time for anything related to weather, plants, and animals.
These paper frog puppets provide children a fun way to practice scissor skills if you have them cut out the pieces.
They will also use their fine motor skills gluing it together.
Plus, it encourages creative play when they are finished. Either way this is a great activity for at home or in the classroom!
To make this project as simple as possible, I’m providing template files that you can use to print and cut out yourself or use a cutting machine (I love my mint Cricut Explore Air 2) to save a step.

Frog Paper Bag Puppet Supplies
- Frog Puppet Template (PDF/PNG/SVG files)*
- Paper bags – these green bags are perfect or use regular brown paper lunch bags
- Card stock or construction paper
- Glue
*These files are for personal use and your personal classroom use only.
If you don’t have a Cricut machine and ONLY want to use the printable template and cut the pieces out yourself, you can download the Frog Puppet PDF here. With this you can print in color and cut out the pieces or use it to trace and cut out pieces from construction paper.
Otherwise you may download the frog puppet template zip files. This includes the PDF as well as a color PNG and black and white SVG files. The PNG is great for using the Cricut’s print then cut feature.
The PNG and SVG files also allow you to use your cutting machine to cut out the shapes on different colors of cardstock paper.
How to Make a Paper Bag Frog Puppet
If not using a cutting machine, print a copy of the PDF template. Then cut out the pieces for the frog’s face or trace on cardstock or construction paper before cutting.
You can use a brown paper lunch bag or a green one. You could also have the kids color brown paper bags with a green crayon.
Have the children glue the pieces together. Start with the large round circle for the frog’s head and glue it to the bottom of the bag.
Then glue the green ovals at the top of the head and glue the eyes onto the green ovals.
Add the small pink circles for cheeks – you can skip this if you want, but I think they look so cute!
Wrap the red strip around a pencil to curl the tongue and glue it under the bottom of the head.
Put your hand into the bag and make your frog go Ribbit!
Using a Cricut:
I’m going to walk you through how to use your Cricut machine to do all the cutting for you. The process should be similar for other cutting machines, but I can only speak to the one I have and use.
If you have another machine, please add any helpful tips you have in the comment section below.
Print Then Cut Directions:
For print then cut, start by uploading the frog puppet PNG file to Cricut Design Space and select “simple.”

You may need to zoom out a bit, then click on the white background to remove it. Then save as “print then cut.”

Select the frog puppet template you just uploaded and insert it into your new project.
You will need to resize it. Resize the image group so an eye is approximately 1.5 inches wide.

Click to make it. You will be prompted to print it out before loading it onto a mat and into your machine. I left the bleed on.

After it’s done cutting, carefully remove from the mat. Now the pieces are ready to be assembled.

Please note: The SVG files are in black and white. You will need to resize them until an eye is about 1.5 inches wide.
For cutting only (not printing first), you will need to manually change the colors. Ungroup the images first, then select the colors for the pieces to be cut on separate mats/color papers.

Once everything is cut out, glue all the pieces together!
