Mixing Halloween with Mickey Mouse equals a big win with my kids. My daughter gets excited as Halloween approaches because it is also her birthday. My son loves Mickey, dressing up, and eating candy.

It wasn’t hard to convince them to join me for a small, simple viewing party of the new Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Monster Musical DVD. I wanted something that would work well for a play date or could be expanded upon for a larger Mickey-themed Halloween party.

While I baked cupcakes, the kids played with the Mickey Mouse magnets, puzzle, and board books sent to us along with the DVD.

Xander thinks it’s hilarious to rearrange Mickey’s magnet body parts.

Aerissa loves puzzles and solved this one in record time.

We snacked on Mickey Mouse shaped sandwiches, using Mickey Mouse cookie cutters. They really are handy for making lunch a little extra special without a ton of extra work!

For dessert, we enjoyed Mouse Masquerade Cupcakes, using Halloween Oreos and mask cupcake toppers. Again, my goal was to keep it simple! I thought of all sorts of fun ways to incorporate costumes and mouse ears, but the kids were content with a few snacks and watching the DVD.

I did save several cupcakes for everyone to decorate themselves, which was a hit. I think my kids are the king and queen of sprinkles!

Meanwhile, I experimented with mine and decorated it with a spiderweb. I suddenly decided I might actually be good at cupcake decorating, except for the fact I bought cookie icing. Yep, that didn’t turn out as planned, but thankfully I had some plain frosting on hand.

The kids were riveted by Mickey and the gang’s spooky adventures. They have yet to encounter an episode of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse they don’t like. I guess I’ll have these ones memorized by October 31st!
