No Sew Felt Flower Bookmark Craft

Celebrate spring with this easy felt flower bookmark craft for kids of all ages.

This is a simple and fun activity to do at home, as a family, or to include in an art center at school.

Preschoolers and kindergartners can practice fine motor skills by helping to glue on supplies.

Elementary age children can do this craft mostly independently. They can practice their tracing, cutting and gluing skills.

I recommend using felt and foam tacky glue or a hot glue gun for the best results. Regular school glue may not adhere the felt pieces together very well based on our experiences.

Blue and red hardcover books without dust jackets stacked on top of one another. Multi-petal felt flower bookmark sticking out of bottom book and red felt tulip bookmark sticking out of the top book. Purple and orange tulip bookmarks on green popsicle sticks lay next to the books.

If you do not have colored popsicle sticks, the children can color them with crayons or markers.

If using markers, be sure to allow plenty of time to dry. Then, using a piece of paper, press it against the popsicle stick to ensure none of the ink rubs off.

If you need last minute gift ideas, these are quick, easy and make great homemade gifts

The felt flower bookmarks are lightweight and can easily be added into cards for the perfect surprise for friends and family.

You could also use the template pattern to make paper flowers. The paper will not be as durable for repeated use, unless laminated, but would also be fun for other craft activities too.

These flowers painted on rocks also make a nice addition to the bookshelf or out in the garden.

How to Make Felt Flower Bookmarks:

First you will need to print out our printable felt flower bookmark craft template.

Trace the large and small flower petals and/or tulip onto the felt using a washable marker on the back side of the felt. I recommend tracing an extra petal or tulip to use as the backing.

Tracing flower patterns on blue, yellow, and pink felt.

I used 2 large petals and 1 small petal for the flower blossom and 2 tulips for the tulip. If you want a smaller blossom use 2 small petals.

Cut out your traced felt petals and tulips.

Two blue felt petal sections, one smaller yellow felt petal, and two pink felt tulip shapes cut out.

Glue the colored popsicle stick onto one of the large petals or tulips, about ¾” from the bottom of the felt.

For the tulip bookmark, glue another tulip onto the top of the popsicle stick, keeping trace marks toward the inside of the flower.

For the flower petals, glue another large flower petal onto the top of the popsicle stick, keeping trace marks hidden and offsetting the petals for the bottom petals.

Then glue the small petals on top of the large petals, offsetting the petals once again.

Finally, glue your choice of button to the center.

Allow time to dry.
