Breastfeeding Milestones

This week's topic is milestones. Or, as I refer to them: boobie awards!

I previously posted about achieving my three month milestone and have my sights set on achieving six months next. While I know I'd like to nurse for at least a year, it feels good to focus on the shorter goals. I suppose that way if I don't reach my long term breastfeeding goal, I won't feel like I failed.

And when the going gets tough while nursing – those short term goals are what I have to hang on to.

Breastfeeding Milestones

I don't know how many of you have heard of the boobie awards, but I saw a lot bout them on the BabyCenter boards. Mostly in signatures and mostly visual like this: (.Y.).

I never found an official definition, but this is what I gathered:

  • Bronze = 3 months
  • Silver = 6 months
  • Gold = 12 months
  • Diamond = 18 months
  • Platinum = 24 months

I think it's fair to say that these awards go to pumping mamas too!

What color are your boobies?
