Breastfeeding Blog Hop: Milestones
Welcome to week 8 of the Breastfeeding Blog Hop!
If this is your first time here, let me give you a brief introduction:
About me: I’m Darcy, a WAHM of a (almost!) 4 month old girl. We’ve mostly been exclusively breastfeeding. Unfortunately my daughter had to have a few bottles of formula when we had a couple days of latch problems and I didn’t have a pump yet. I’m loving the opportunity to be home and nursing her!
This week’s topic is milestones. Or, as I refer to them: boobie awards!
I previously posted about achieving my three month milestone and have my sights set on achieving six months next. While I know I’d like to nurse for at least a year, it feels good to focus on the shorter goals. I suppose that way if I don’t reach my long term breastfeeding goal, I won’t feel like I failed.
And when the going gets tough while nursing – those short term goals are what I have to hang on to.
Breastfeeding Milestones
I don’t know how many of you have heard of the boobie awards, but I saw a lot bout them on the BabyCenter boards. Mostly in signatures and mostly visual like this: (.Y.).
I never found an official definition, but this is what I gathered:
- Bronze = 3 months
- Silver = 6 months
- Gold = 12 months
- Diamond = 18 months
- Platinum = 24 months
I think it’s fair to say that these awards go to pumping mamas too!
What color are your boobies?

hi! I’m due to give birth any day now and also plan to breastfeed exclusively for the first 6 months then supplement with food starting the 7th month while continuing to breastfeed until my baby turns 1 yr old. So nice to find someone else like me. :D The boobie awards sound great! Will definitely keep coming back to your blog to read more about your breastfeeding milestones. Good luck! You can do it!

Silver- and just by the skin of our teeth! He LOVES to nurse but my supply is plummeting here. I hope we can limp along to GOLD!

Silver-pumping during the day (even weekends), nursing at night. Like Erin, I’m starting to have a supply issue, but I’ve been having some plugged duct problems the last couple weeks. Massage isn’t helping much; heating pads and nursing seems to break through. She likes solids, but hasn’t slowed down on milk.
Thanks for linking up!
Stop over and see me and my gold boobies. hehe.

These are great! Mine are beyond Platinum!! Woo Hoo!MommyNews
Well, I am no longer breastfeeding but I commend anyone who decides to breastfeed! I have an 8 year old (nine next week!) who I would have gotten the platinum award with! The second one is now 2 (3 in May). I would have just gotten silver with her because we only went up to about 8 months. She started on food early. She was a 9lb 14 oz baby when she was born! She started eating baby food early too because the milk just wasn’t doing it for her and She was ready to be done and so was I. Working full time and pumping all the time kinda gets to you. I was lucky with my oldest, I got to take her to work with me until she was 6 months old, so I didn’t have to pump much, so I think we formed more of a bond that way.
I guess I have a gold award! I was really hoping to make it up to diamond but my son was just ready to wean.
Thanks for dropping by my blog!
Sorry I didn’t get a chance to respond to all these lovely comments yesterday. I’m happy to see so many different colored boobies! :)
I wish I could take credit for making these up, but I can’t. Wish I could give proper credit but I don’t know who created them.Syrana
My boobies are Gold (ds1), Diamond (ds2), and currently silver!
Love these awards though I do think that anyone who ‘has a go’ should get a certificate ;)
Loving this weeks blog hop, so many interesting ways of looking at milestones!
Let’s see? I got gold with my first, platinum with my second, and I’m a week into nursing my precious third! I’ve cut my breast cancer risk in half, and I have amazingly healthy kids!
That’s awesome! Love to hear other’s earning gold and up! :)Syrana
My boobies are purple
Purple= For those who tried but couldn’t due to “technical difficulty”
