Tales From the Nursery: The Toddler Years

PR Info/Disclosures

We’re a PR friendly blog!

Darcy has been blogging on and off for the past ten years (before Blogger existed in its form today!). While pregnant in 2010, she had the desire to write about soon-to-be motherhood and thus, Tales From the Nursery was born. Since it’s inception as a pregnancy diary, it has evolved into a place where readers find an honest look at motherhood as well as products for the family. Prior to opening Tales From the Nursery, Darcy maintained a popular niche gaming blog for over a year, was linked by a couple gaming community news sites (WoW.com aka WoWInsider and Aion’s Eye On Community), and appeared on several podcasts, even cohosting one for a few months. With her experience, she has learned how to network and build herself from the ground up on more than one occasion.  Darcy enjoys guest posting and has some experience freelance writing as well.

(“We” are a husband, a wife, a baby girl, and three cats.)

Reviews

  • Reviews are conducted FREE of charge. (We just need the product or paid service!) Please note: Due to the time we put into conducting and writing reviews, if it is a low value item a flat fee for time may be requested.
  • We review family-friendly items (clothes, toys, books, movies, food, household goods, baby items, cloth diapers, etc.). On occasion we may agree to review more adult orientated items. If so, those posts will not show any images or include very much information on the main page of our blog, requiring a person to take action and click through to see the entire post and more about your product. If it makes life easier or more enjoyable – I want to know about it!
  • All products sent for reviews are mine to keep or donate and will not be returned. We have the right to refuse the review if the item received differs from the product discussed and agreed upon.
  • We ask that you provide a full sized product, not a sample size. We want to provide accurate reviews and feedback on your products, so we must be able to use them multiple times and in the same fashion as we would if we had purchased it ourselves.
  • We are not responsible for any shipping charges for review products.
  • Reviews will include product details, links back to your site, pictures (ones you provide and/or ones of our family using your product). All posts will be shared on Twitter. Most posts are shared on Facebook as well, but we try not to post too many in a day.
  • If we love your product and continue using it, it will continue to get mentions periodically if it fits with a topic.
  • Reviews will be completed and posted within 4-6 weeks of receiving your product/service, unless otherwise noted or agreed upon. We want to use your product multiple times and we also have other responsibilities to balance with our love of product reviews, giveaways, and blogging! (Cloth diaper reviews may take a bit longer due to prep washing, use during the day, naptime, overnight and getting pictures!)
  • We will send you an email to confirm receipt of your product and an estimated posting date. We will send you an email with the link to the review once it has been posted.
  • In the case of a negative review, we will contact you by email prior to posting and you have the option to decline the review post. We recognize that honest feedback is helpful in order to improve products, but we do not want to speak poorly about products or services in a way that could be perceived as harmful. An overall positive review may still contain constructive criticism and/or suggestions for improvement.

Reviews and Giveaways – The Dynamic Duo

We highly recommend doing a review AND giveaway as this will provide the most exposure for your product. Personally, I take more notice of reviews paired with giveaways than either which are done separately. This is because an honest review gets my interest and a chance to win it furthers my interest. I admit I have a giveaway obsession! But, when I don’t win that item, I’m more likely to purchase it on my own. (Especially if there is a special reader discount code!)

  • The Dynamic Duo is provided FREE of charge.
  • The rest of the review and giveaway policies still apply.

Giveaways

  • Sponsors are responsible for mailing the giveaway prize to the winner. Please do not mail the giveaway prize to us along with the review product. We will provide the sponsor with the necessary information in order to get the prize to the winner
  • Please inform us what the prize is (especially if it varies from the review product) when setting up the giveaway and let us know who is eligible to enter: US, Canada or Worldwide. **Please note giveaways open to US & Canada will allow the majority of readers to enter; however, we leave this decision up to you since you are the one shipping the prize. About 80% of our readers are in the US.
  • Giveaways will begin upon posting and run for 14 days unless otherwise noted or agreed upon.
  • Giveaways will be promoted within the blog, as well as on Twitter, Facebook, and various giveaway blogs/linkys.
  • We will select the giveaway winner randomly and notify them by email. When they reply back, we will forward you their shipping information and any other product selection information that may be needed.
  • The mandatory entry will usually require our readers to visit your site and identify an item they like.
  • We can ask our readers to “like” your Facebook page, follow you on Twitter, subscribe by email to your newsletter, etc. for bonus entries. However, per Facebook rules we cannot ask the reader to take an action on Facebook for an entry, such as commenting on your wall.
  • We cannot ask our readers to make a purchase for bonus entries as this violates FTC regulations. Purchases cannot increase odds of winning per Sweepstakes Law.
  • We ask that you ship the prize to the giveaway winner within a reasonable amount of time after the giveaway ends.
  • Giveaways without a review product are subject to a fee due to the time and effort it takes to host, promote, and run a giveaway. **We will host 1 free giveaway a month for work at home moms (WAHMs)**
  • Giveaways without a review product will be posted within one week of receiving fee payment.

Sponsored Posts / Advertising Space

Not interested in a review or giveaway? You still have the opportunity for advertising on our blog. This can be in the form of ad space on the blog or a sponsored post for your company, contest, press release, etc. Please contact us to discuss your interest, options, and pricing. Advertising will be posted within the time frame we agree upon.
