32 Candles

If there was a sequel to 16 Candles it’d be 32 Candles, right?

Today Brian and I are celebrating our birthdays. I recently had someone ask if we take turns each year. Nope! When we started dating it became our birthday. We share it and sort of cancel each other out lol Though for Brian’s 30th I put together a small surprise party.

As I’ve gotten older my birthday just isn’t the same. They are way more fun as a kid! It used to be cool to get older…there were parties, presents, and birthday cards with money! But not anymore….now it’s a yearly dose of reality about my mortality. My birthday is no longer about growing up, it’s about getting older.

But it’s still fun because I get cake!

Okay, there are still presents. And a party on occasion. It’s just different from when you’re a kid.

When’s your birthday? Do you do anything special for it?

Haha, there’s a little hand or foot creeping up the picture of you wearing the birthday tiara!

Happy Birthday!! I can’t believe it took me all day toget over here to say it. Anyway, I hope you had a great day. My bday is March 19 and I rarely do anything special. Two years ago, hubby gave me Bon Jovi tickets so that was the best gift ever!! I’ll probably do something big for my 40th but that is 4+ years away. ;-)

Birthdays are quieter now for me too.. but part of that is that we’re so far from family and friends… my favorite thing about my birthday is that it’s in Autumn… cool enough for relaxing outdoors (also so the smoke detector doesn’t go off now that there are more than 35 candles on the cake ;-)

Happy belated Birthday! At 37, my birthdays are pretty low-key too. I do insist on a cake of some sort every year, so I can make my birthday wish and blow out the candles. This past year, my boyfriend threw me a little party with some friends and the kids. It was the first party I’ve had since I was 16!

I’ve always made a HUGE deal about birthdays, we celebrate half-birthdays too. I think it is so important to recognize your life and your accomplishments. Though I haven’t had a party in a few years, we go cake & dinner with friends. It’s even more fun now that my son is getting older and understands how fun birthdays are.

Happy Birthday! 32 is still quite young. The older I get (past 30) I can’t even remember what my age is. :)

Enjoy this new year of life!

Happy belated birthday! I always want to do something. Big for my birthdays, but I don’t know enough people who’d want to. I’ll be turning 33 this year. I really just want cake made for me( last year I made my own) and a fun day doing things I love. My birthday is in the middle of summer, but its usually really muggy out and I feel like staying in. Hopefully it’ll be nice this year.

Happy belated birthday to you and Brian!

My birthday is in June, which I have always loved. I was never in school on my birthday (which is kinda bad because then I never got school birthday parties, but eh) and it’s warm enough for BBQs and pool parties. But you are totally right, birthdays aren’t the same as you get older!
