This stained glass Easter egg tissue paper craft for kids is a fun activity. It’s quick and easy so it keeps the interest of little crafters as well as older children from start to finish.

Creating this Easter egg tissue paper suncatcher craft is a great way to spark their creativity as well as work on their fine motor skills. Cutting, tearing, and gluing are helpful skills for little learners.

You can cut the tissue paper into one inch squares if you want to prep ahead. Otherwise, you can give kids the task of cutting the tissue paper.

It’s great scissor practice for preschool and kindergarten children. Toddlers can tear off pieces of tissue paper too.

Once they are all done and the glue has dried, their egg is a pretty faux stained glass suncatcher you can put in the window.

Tissue Paper Easter Egg Craft Supplies

It doesn’t matter what color tissue paper you use. The more variety, the more colorful it will be. If you only have white tissue paper on hand, you can let the kids color it with markers before cutting it up.

For the egg outline, printer paper is ideal for this project as the light will shine through it much easier than a heavier weight paper like cardstock.

How to Make Tissue Paper Easter Eggs

Stack 1’x1’ sections of tissue paper (or whatever size you have on hand) and cut them into various sizes. For this project, I cut small 1 inch squares and some longer 2-3 inch strips.

Print out the blank Easter egg template or draw a large egg shape on a piece of printer paper.

Glue the pieces of tissue paper to the egg. I recommend using glue sticks if you have them on hand.

You’ll want to cover the entire white area. It’s okay if the tissue paper overlaps or goes over the edges of the egg. 

Once the glue has dried, cut out your Easter egg and place it in the window.
