Getting healthy and losing weight have pros and cons, much like anything else. One of those is shopping for new clothes.
I've been looking forward to needing new pants and I finally had to buy some on Saturday. All my pants are officially too big. A few pairs were already baggy, but several were literally falling off my ass. I've been trying to get by with a belt, but I ran out of notches.
Seriously, if you can pull your pants down without undoing your belt on the last notch… you need new pants.
So, I walked into Torrid, planning to try on size 16 for the heck of it, but assuming I was measuring at size 18. The woman who assisted me asked what size I needed as I looked lost. I told her I didn't know since I've lost some weight recently, but I was wearing size 20 not that long ago. She told me the pants I was wearing looked way too big on me and guessed size 16. “I hope so!” I said.
Turns out she was right. Those jeans fit me nicely. My butt didn't seem so flat. I felt awesome, looking in the mirror. When I showed her how they fit, she told me I needed to wear them out of the store and I agreed.
I considered tossing those old jeans out right then and there, but decided not to. I'm going to hold onto them a little longer so I can do one of those pictures where I stand in one pant leg then donate them. They are still in good shape so someone else can get use out of them.
I've ordered a couple more pairs of new pants because I'm going to need more than one pair that fits. However, this reminded me how expensive losing weight can be as I move down through sizes. Although, I could go to Goodwill next time. Soon I won't have to shop at specialty plus size stores which will also bring my costs down… but it's still not cheap to replace your wardrobe several times. And those times in between sizes can be frustrating.
Ah well, it was a happy moment and I treated myself to brand new pants!
I've been sticking to Weight Watchers very well – logging everything I eat and staying within my points. Last week was really nice out so I took the kids to the park a couple days plus we went for walks. I know that activity helped too! Hope to keep this momentum going. It's easier to stay on track when my motivation is high and right now it's definitely high. I know there are tricky days and weeks ahead, but I'm going to be ready for them, I hope.
