We are passionate about children’s education, which includes encouraging and empowering girls to pursue STEM activities. We are excited to help promote this engineering event through this sponsored post.
Women are still underrepresented in engineering and technology careers. This is why we love to encourage our daughter to participate in STEM activities at school, in the community, and at home. The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is hosting this half day program for girls to attend in several cities across the country.

SWENext Designlab Engineering Event for Girls Coming to Milwaukee
The SWENext Designlab is a program designed to encourage young girls to participate in STEM activities and interests. Girls who attend this event will participate in hands-on engineering activities and meet real engineers. Parents and educators will receive more resources from the area that will help their daughters and students pursue STEM.

Location: Wisconsin Center at 400 W Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI
This event is part of the WE Local Milwaukee, the Society of Women Engineers’ local conference and career fair. Programs like SWENext DesignLab Milwaukee are vital in the effort to encourage more young women to pursue STEM and to ultimately close the gap in technical fields.
It’s an excellent opportunity for young girls in grades 6-8 to engage in engineering through hands-on activities as well as interact with women in the field. We know that representation matters and this event helps girls see what they can become.
SWENext DesignLab Milwaukee is divided into two parts:
- Middle School Girls Program (grades 6-8)
- Parent/Educator Program (PEP)
Middle School Girls Program
This program provides an excellent opportunity for girls to engage in STEM activities, meet women engineers, and learn what they do. They will hear more about the different types of engineering jobs and how they can make a difference in the world as an engineer.

Parent/Educator Program (PEP)
This program will provide parents and educators an opportunity to also engage in engineering activities. They will learn how they can further encourage their girls and students to pursue their interests in STEM. All attendees will receive local resources including information on camps, competitions, scholarships and more.

The SWENext DesignLab also features two awards opportunities for Milwaukee high schoolers. The SWENext Local Innovator Awards Program recognizes the outstanding young women shaping the future of SWE by developing an engineering identity in themselves and others. The SWENext Northrop Grumman High School Community Award Program encourages students to use STEM to solve real-world problems and make a difference in the Milwaukee community.
