Pregnancy Journal: 36 Weeks and Starting to Make Progress!

At the end I’m finally getting a D belly! I’ve always wanted that basketball look. And wow I barely fit against that chunk of wall anymore LOL!

Things are moving and shaking as we approach the due date. I certainly can’t sit or lay down very easily without wondering if I’ll be forever stranded. Seriously, it’s like watching a fish out of water trying to figure out how to get where I want to be. This is part of why I’m not getting much sleep – it’s just not that comfortable. Plus I’m trying to prepare the blog for some time off since it could be any time now, really.

My NSTs are going well so yay for that. Part of this is due to my OB’s nurse actually trying to stimulate him by shaking, poking, prodding and buzzing my belly. Last place didn’t even try – no wonder Rissa kept failing! Interesting how different the care can be for such similar pregnancies.

I just had an OB check on Friday. Blood pressure is still good, my sugars are mostly good (with a few exceptions), and I am not really swelling. Woohoo! I have gained 4 pounds in the last 9 days (omg!) bringing me to a total gain of 14 pounds for this pregnancy so far. They think it’s great, but that’s twice my gain with Rissa! (Though I started out heavier with her.)

And …. I’m about 1-2 centimeters dilated. He’s still high, but my body is definitely getting ready. Earlier in the week I had some very low contractions and discharge is thickening – all signs of upcoming labor!

Oh and I’m making progress on the doula front. I emailed two in my area. One got back to me right away and we chatted on the phone yesterday. We will be scheduling a meeting and finalize from there. The other one hasn’t responded and it’s been a couple days. I have a good feeling about the woman I talked with so hopefully I can hire her otherwise I am not sure I’ll get one lined up before I deliver.

What signs did you notice as you got closer to going into labor?

Well I think you more than managed the basketball look. That looks more like a beach ball! Are you sure you are not gonna have that baby in the next few minutes???

LOL I hope it's not that soon! At least it's pretty obvious I'm preggers now. :)
