Gah, I hate that I have to tell you I still am not up to 4 days a week of my Nike+ Kinect Training workouts. But I’m not dwelling on it. We’ve kept up at least 2-3 times a week so that’s better than nothing, right?
Also….while I’m still not doing so great with all the jumping, I am improving! Last time I did 8 burpees in 30 seconds! (Up from 5!) my weight is still hovering around 224-226 pounds depending on when I weigh myself.
I’m also – admittedly – not eating as well as I should be. Last week I had a follow up appointment with the endocrinologist that monitored by gestational diabetes. I’m aware my risk of developing Type 2 is high so he wants to monitor me going forward. The biggest key to reducing my risk at this time is to lose weight.
He acknowledges that I kept my blood sugars under control while preggo and is not being a total hard ass so that’s good. He joked about giving me a little food break, but said in seriousness that I have 3 more weeks to eat whatever I want before I really need to focus on getting healthier. He also wants to see my exercise increase to 5 days a week by then.
I have my work cut out for me, but at least I’m working towards it!
Besides my long term health, it is important to be mindful of my risks if we try for baby 3. Before we can start trying (if/when) I’ll need to get my A1C tested to ensure my blood sugar levels are in normal range, then start testing post meals as soon as I conceive because I have an 80% chance of developing gestational diabetes again.
….but first I have to schedule a glucose tolerance test to make sure my numbers are back to normal now. There’s always a chance my gestational diabetes developed into Type 2 this time (but I doubt it).
