Glow Bug Cloth Diaper Review & Giveaway (US/CAN) 2/2

One of the most intimidating things about cloth diapering can be the start up cost. I think this turns some people away from trying because they feel like they have to spend a lot of money right away. In the grand scheme of things, start up costs are nothing compared to the cost to use disposable diapers from birth through potty learning. Still, when someone is on the fence, they don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars. Even after they get passed the start up costs, they have to decide what kind of diapers to buy and form who. I like to suggest trying a variety to see what works best for you and your family, but you want to go for quality affordable resuable diapers the best you can.

And believe me, there are some very expensive and very cheap diapers… who’s quality doesn’t always match the price tag.

Glow Bug Cloth Diapers was started by Sarah and Neta, two mamas who met during pregnancy yoga, and started their own cloth adventures with their children. They were frustrated with trying to find affordable quality diapers, so they started their own fluffy business. Talk about finding a solution to your problem!

Glow Bug Cloth Diapers are one size pocket diapers, which means they should fit for most of baby’s diapering days and need to be stuffed with inserts. They have 4 rise settings and two rows of waist snaps to fit most babies 7-35 pounds. The waist tabs are square, helping to create a tighter and trimmer fit around the hips. The tabs crossover, making it ideal for newborn babies as well as skinny minis like my daughter. You can see that I have the waist snapped pretty tight and she still has room to grow! The double gussets around the thighs keep messes in too. The pocket is roomy and opens at both ends, making it easier to stuff and also makes it easier for the inserts to agitate out during the wash. The insert snaps in to keep it in place. I did find that some of our other inserts seemed a tad too long and the pocket flaps didn’t lay over them very well.

I found the Glow Bug diaper to be nice and trim. I liked the vibrant red with multi-colored snaps. It’s a fun combination that is gender neutral. We used this diaper mostly for day use, naps, and travel. I liked it for travel due to the double pocket opening. I could just toss it into the wetbag and into the wash without touching the inserts. We didn’t try using it overnight because it didn’t fit very well being super stuffed. It gaped around the thighs on my daughter because of the extra bulk.

These diapers remind me of another lower cost diaper – the design is very similar and it works.

So what’s the catch?

They ONLY  come in snaps (which is great for me because I love snaps!).

They ONLY come in packs of 12. You cannot order single diapers.

For someone just starting out in the world of fluff or someone who needs help expanding their stash, these are a great option. A pack of 12 cloth diapers comes in girls prints, boys prints, or gender neutral solids. Each diaper in the package comes with two inserts as well. It is only $150 for a 12 pack with a wetbag.  Yep, it comes with a coordinating wetbag! Definitely an awesome starter stash. So, that comes out to about $12.50 per diaper PLUS a FREE wetbag.

Now that’s affordable quality!

I do wish single purchases were available, but they only have the packs. It’s understandable, they want to provide a great price for getting started – the very thing they needed but couldn’t find themselves. At least they are generous and offering a giveaway so you can try one out and see what you think before placing an order!

I like the idea of the slim fit, my only *dislike* of cloth diapers is the bulk.
