I love strawberries and I’m fond of champagne. I haven’t drank very much in years, but when I do, it’s all about enjoying the taste. Last weekend was Strawberry Fest in my area so I figured strawberries soaked in champagne sounded like a good experiment. While technically not a drink, I think it’s a fun twist and perfect for summer, don’t you?

Sure, I could just drink strawberry wine, but I was very interested in biting into a juicy strawberry that tasted like champagne.

Champagne Soaked Strawberries

It seemed simple enough to do. Add strawberries and champagne to a jar and allow them to sit for about 24 hours, or poke holes into the strawberries for shorter soaking time. I bought fresh strawberries at Strawberry Fest and added those and my favorite bottle of champagne to plastic freezer canning containers. (I wasn’t quite sure what to get, didn’t want a full case of jars, and didn’t have any jars handy at home.) I only got to use half a bottle of the champagne and had 12 hours to soak them before having a friend over to help me sample them.

One container had strawberries with little fork pokes, the other did not. I forgot to label them… but we did notice one set of strawberries tasted more potent than the others, so I think those were the poked ones! Next time I want to soak them in champagne then dip them in chocolate. Mmmmm.

What’s your favorite summer drink?

Oh, this sooooo takes me back to high school. I know that sounds weird, but when I was taking German, we were taught about some of the culture and this was one of the drinks they'd make for celebrations. It's called Erdbeerbowle - Strawberry Summer Punch. It's a fantastic drink!

That makes it sound much better - that it's a celebration drink! I had no idea. Thanks for sharing, Jill. :)
