A Look at the Year 2012 on TFTN
2012 was quite the year for us here at Tales From the Nursery. There were ups and downs but overall I would say it was a pretty great year for our family and the blog. Let’s take a look back at some of the highlights, shall we? (And if you are a newer reader, this is a great way to see what you missed! Kind of like the Cliff Notes of TFTN.) This round up was no easy task. We’ve posted over 2,200 times in the past 2.5 years!
Important (to me) highlights:
- We decided to try for a second baby, I got pregnant in March, and had Xander in December. I shared my pregnancy with everyone through a weekly pregnancy journal.
- I was invited to attend my first press trip with Disney in April to help promote Marvel’s The Avengers.
- I attended my first blog conference at Brand and Bloggers Summit, then attended two more blogging conferences.
- I started a shift away from so many reviews and giveaway events and worked to share more content and personal posts.
- I started using video more!
- And we started posting about more local content.
My favorite posts:
- TFTN’s Top 11 Baby Product Picks in 2011
- What Will Be the Impact of Baby #2? - This one received a lot of comments and support. I never did respond to those comments (after so long it feels wrong to go back and do it), but I read them all. Several brought tears to my eyes.
- Rissa Recommends: 8 books for Toddlers
- Misconceptions About the Time to Stop Breastfeeding
- Finding Ways for My Toddler to Socialize Without Playdates or Moms Group
- Why I am a Crappy Mom (which is up there with Why I’m Not Winning Mom of the Year, I think.)
- Xander’s Birth Story
All time favorites:
- Why I’m Not Winning Mom of the Year
- Meeting New Mommy Friends
- Learning to Love Me
- Rissa’s Birth Story
I always think its interesting how my personal faves match up with the most popular posts based on traffic. Do to using stumble Upon, etc, I didn’t feel comfortable posting the popular by traffic posts. What were your favorite posts of the year?

Oh my gosh! I just read ‘Why I’m not Winning Mom of the Year’ and wish I would have seen it sooner (I had my daughter in August 2011 and I started following after). I’ve already told you I feel like your daughter and mine seem so similar and this only solidifies that notion because I have indeed dealt with similar scenarios, even now at 16 months. This is why I enjoy and continue to follow your blog…you don’t realize it but you give me a little bit of my sanity back when I read your posts! Thank you and hope that you and your family have a safe and happy New Year :)

I’m glad my posts help your sanity! Writing them often helps mine :) I’m going to really need help hanging onto it now with the two of them lol
Thanks so much for reading and commenting. I look forward to seeing what you have to say to my ramblings here and on Facebook :)
Have a happy and safe New Years!Syrana
