How Ziploc Saves You Money When Buying in Bulk

While bigger is not always better, we often save money when buying items in bulk. When shopping at club stores like Costco or Sam’s Club, you need to pay attention to unit prices. Just because it’s a bulk item doesn’t mean it is cheaper.  Some of the things we frequently buy in bulk to save money are toilet paper, paper towels, granola bars, chicken breasts, and ground beef.

Have you noticed that big packs of chicken and beef tend to be cheaper?  Even at the regular grocery store, I notice a price drop when I look at the 3lb+ packs.  I suppose the theory is you are paying for the convenience of smaller portions as well as the additional packaging.  I used to find splitting meat up to be a pain, but it’s not so bad anymore.

20120410-203244.jpg Before I received Ziploc Perfect Portions bags, I used to turn Ziploc sandwich baggies inside out to act as a glove while dividing out bulk meat portions.  I love that now I can use the Perfect Portions bag like a glove and keep the portion in there!  This way I can store more chicken breasts inside ONE Ziploc freezer bag rather than only putting two in each.  They are hard to get apart once frozen which is why splitting them up is important.  I also like the new Ziploc Freezer Bags because I can hear it seal up better and know our meat wil be protected while in the deep freezer.

20120410-203251.jpg I also received their small containers that close up tight with a press in the middle of the lid.  These are great for packing snacks in the diaper bag.  I also like these for splitting up big snack bags into reasonable portions.  No need to buy 100 calorie packs when I can do it myself!  These also work great to make individual pudding cups when I make pudding at home.  Much cheaper than buying the snack packs!

What do you buy in bulk?

I received a sample of their perfect portions bags inside my gallon size bags that I just bought. I put it aside not knowing what it was and now I’m more eager to try it out! Definitely looks like a great product for my family.

I like to buy in bulk too. I also buy on Amazon in bulk. I like to buy grapes and put them in ziploc bags for individual portions. We also buy at Costco, and my Princess loves to have her melons cut up and put in individual bags. Not the most earth friendly but it helps her eat healthy, and she can open the fridge and get it her self.

I always buy bulk fruit & veggies from our local Farmer’s Market in the Spring/Summer. Ziploc Bags really help me out allowing me to freeze them safely to last all winter long!

I never pay for “convenience” foods or pre portioned products. I like to buy in bulk or buy family sized products then break it down myself. You save a ton of money! I can create my own “100 calorie snacks” or grab & go snacks.

I am the queen of buying in bulk and freezing portions so that we can save on the grocery bill. Meat is especially good to portion out and freeze in the freezer bags, so I don’t end up with freezer burn.

I generally hate storing things in plastic but it really is the cheapest and most convenient option. And it is definitely used for storing bulk in our household, too.quantmlife

I love Ziplock bags. We use them for everything from snacks in my purse to freezing meat portions! My favourite are the Freezer Bags, they tend to be heavier and I can write on them the dates. I have even used these for applesauce!InezbyDesign
