I am just like you….it is not cheap to get haircuts so often and colored! I’ve definitely been stretching the time in between and coloring at home!

So cool to see you in person! And I so agree! I go so long between my son’s that I kinda feel bad at times and then I always get it cut right before school pics – bad, bad, bad!

Boogie boooo!!! She’s cracking me up.. and I am picturing my son and Rissa together — and I am scared for my life.

Besides the kids… I’ve had gray hair since I turned 12. Remember the Sun In Hair dye spray stuff? Well – I used it one Summer, hair turned something between Sun YELLOW and orange (and my hair is naturally dark black). Within 3-4 weeks I had a nice chunk of grays (or, “Sexy Silver” as my girlfriends say..).

Fast forward through high school, college, pregnancy, marriage, one child, and 1 year as a Graduate student so far and I have a decent chunk of grays sporadically placed throughout my head. I’m in my late-20’s so this is sad, but I’ve been dealing with this for years and well adjusted. HOWEVER: I am not ready to go all gray! I’m a regular at my salon with highlights and base required every month MAX. (6 weeks — and call me Granny.) ~ I will likely dye these sexy strands of hair until I’m well into my .. 90’s? :)

I want a Flow Bee. I’ve played with one before and think I could do my own with it. I hate the costs of getting my hair done.

I cut the Hubby and Son’s hair. Daughter won’t let me touch hers especially after seeing the clippers buzzing the guys.

I love dying my hair..done so much to mine I’m surprised it didn’t all fall out at one point.

Haha, “Mom-cuts-her-own-hair look”. I don’t think it looks that way at all. What is this picture you have for your profile though…did you end up cutting more off?

As for me, I was almost going to chop off my hair myself, which I’ve done plenty of trimming on my own back in the day…but I didn’t want that moment to happen when I end up getting hives because I’ve gone too far, LOL. Before we had the baby, I cut my hubby’s hair (over 15 years) & rarely went for myself (trusting only one person when I did). Fast-forward to today – no time to cut his hair, so he’s been going to Supercuts (I HATE to spend the $, but he doesn’t have one of those 1-blade styles) and I haven’t had a cut in about a year. Unfortunately, my hair was not exempt from the extreme shedding after having a baby and I had split-ends that would stop me in my tracks to pick at, haha. I didn’t think I’d ever have the time to break away from the baby (I am still nursing exclusively), but I couldn’t stand it any longer! So, today I broke down and walked into Supercuts to get my hair cut by a stranger…it was worth it. I may not be able to stop the shedding, but it should be a while before I see a split-end!

I’m in the same boat! I used to love getting my hair done (and my nails too)… but I don’t even have time to think about doing something like that these days with a 2yr old (or the $$$). It’s so funny that I just saw this today b/c I cut my son’s hair last night. I think I do a good job for not knowing what the heck I’m doing either! Hah. I’ve always been punky & out there with haircuts since I was a teen, so you can’t really go “wrong” if it’s supposed to be “wrong”… right? haha! I killed my bangs when I was like 10 & cut them when they were wet… to where I thought they should be… if only I would have known about the pin-up look back then, I could have pulled off my major screw up better! Rissa is so stinkin’ cute! Glad you got your pics finally ;) And your cut doesn’t look bad at all ;) It’s a little hard to tell how it’s layered with your dark hair on a dark shirt, but I’m sure it’s just great!Chevso

I like you, cut my own hair last month! I actually leaned over and put my hair in a ponytail on top of my head and then cut off about 6 inches. It came out pretty good, I have to say! I got some layers, that I like, but is not as nice if I would have paid for it. My hair is like yours! I started going grey at 22. And, the shorter my hair is, the curlier it gets. Most of the time, I just put it up in a ponytail anyways!
I think you did a good job on your cut! We always look better when we have found time to style it! I am fifty now, and have learned to embrace my grey hair, my granddaughter says, “Grandma, you hair is not grey, it is clear.” Anyway, when I was young like you, I covered up the grey too!portulaca61

I thought your hair looked for cutting it yourself.I agree using the foam color, less messy and easy to use. Ive used John Fridea foam and it worked great for me as I also covered my grey hair. Im 42 and Im not ready to have a lot of grey hair. Here;s a tip when I go to the salon to get my sons hair cut or mine I watch my sister n law when she cuts hair( she’s a beautcian) and i watch the angles and stuff she uses when shes cutting the hair and when I cut my hair I try to do it the same way. I only cut my hair once a year and cut it and thin it out myself. But hey if you dont mess it up nobody will know you did it yourself. .travelingmom42

Great video! I don’t know if you have any suggestions for me, but I thought I would ask. I have a 13 yr. old Autistic son and I cut his hair with clippers. I buzz through with the longest setting. The problem is that he fights me. He doesn’t cooperate with me or sit still too good. I just wondered if you have any techniques that would work for me. Thanks

You are so brave..lol but I think you did an awesome job I would have never known you did it yourself.I have tried to cut my bangs and I really suck..never again..I once let my hubby cut the back of my hair and I never raced so fast to the salon to get it fixed, I looked like a mushroom..lol

You did great and she is adorable :)

I want to learn how to cut my fiance’s hair so we can save some money, I don’t think I would trust myself cutting my own hair because I have problems trying to straighten my hair in the mirror, my brain gets confused and I do the opposite of what I want to do so I think that would be a disaster. I don’t think your hair looks bad but I wish you would’ve styled it so we could see the cut better. The thing I love about a haircut is that if you don’t like it it’s not a big deal because it will grow back, you just have to work with it for the time being. Every time I get a haircut that is more than just a trim it takes a few days to grow on me, it has been 2 weeks, do you like it better now?
