Need Help Living Healthier? The Walmart Foundation Can Help!
This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walmart for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
One of my goals is to live a healthier lifestyle. This is always on my goal list with varying degrees of success. I think part of the issue is that we as a family aren’t always on the same page. My husband wants to live healthier as well, it just seems like each of us make efforts at different times at different levels. When spring returns, we will get back to walking at least a mile a day after dinner. Now, if we could stick to buying better food we’d be in business!
I think the new Walmart healthy living initiative could really help us, especially if they can teach me how to shop for more nutritional options on a budget. I always feel like eating better ends up costing more even if I think it’s worth the value in the long run.
Dr. Ro will also be lending her expertise on how to shop healthy on a budget, which means the Walmart Foundation will have a great resource for this! Also, I’d love to attend some cooking demonstrations! I don’t get a whole lot out of cooking shows on television because the dishes tend to be way more extravagant than I would ever make at home.
The Walmart Foundation donated $9.5 million to organizations that help families achieve healthier lifestyles. I especially liked seeing that money was donated to Action for Healthy Kids and Share Our Strength. The first program will be increasing nutritional education in the school systems. I think this is so important to learn young before you have 30 years of bad eating habits like me!
The second program, Share Our Strength, works with low income families to teach them how to shop healthy on a budget. I have worked with a lot of low income families that didn’t know how to do this and spent too much money on junk food simply because they didn’t know any better.
Shopping Matters is part of the education provided:

Thanks for the review. This has been on my mind too. I think that I should take a cooking class to improve my skills and then entice my tastebuds to eat more well rounded meals! Good luck with your goals! :)
great to know more about this!chascouponmom
nice, i am with you always trying to find ways to live healthier, oh and I clicked this link :)
I am much better at the whole “healthy living” thing during the spring and summer. I take walks and get outside more. During the winter, I hibernate! But I have been eating healthier, so that’s something, right?
