Tales From the Nursery: The Toddler Years

Love Your Little One With aden+anais Multi-purpose Swaddle Blankets!

Swaddle blankets are a must during the newborn stage, but most aren’t large enough.  Well, I should say most baby blankets  aren’t big enough for proper swaddling.  I remember struggling with our receiving blankets, trying to make roll Rissa in a nice, tight little baby burrito.  This worked okay for the first few weeks, but it didn’t take long before I noticed I just didn’t have enough material to work with (and I have a skinny baby!).  I wish I had known about aden+anais back then!

Wrap your baby in love with this month’s sweet styles: sweet heart, twinkle pink, and radiant red.

These swaddles are made of 100% cotton muslin.  They are MUCH larger than receiving blankets, are more breathable, and have more give.  Being larger provides ample material to properly swaddle and comfort babies.  The material makes them ideal to keep babies from being too hot or cold while wrapped snugly in them.  They are wonderful multi-purpose blankets: tummy time, snuggle time, stroller cover, nursing cover, changing table cover, etc.  With each wash it gets softer too!

Rissa is a bit big for swaddles, but she could use some bigger light weight blankets.  She had fun laying and rolling around on the one we received while watching some television.  I like the pouch it comes with to keep it folded for traveling.  I don’t often use nursing covers, but I would use this blanket.  Our other ones we’ve tried to use as covers were too small, thick, and hot!

Favorite Feature: Larger size!

Least Favorite Feature: The price (not a feature but…)

Conclusion: While these swaddles are a bit pricier, they can be used for a few things and into the toddler years.  These would be good baby shower registry items for sure!

Where to buy: An aden+anais single cotton muslin swaddle retails for about $22.  You can find them at various baby boutiques, on adenandanais.com, and on Amazon.

I’ve always wondered why baby blankets are so small when we’re supposed to be swaddling them. I love the stars and this looks so soft and cuddly!!

These blankets are my go-to gifts for baby showers. They seriously last forever and have a myriad of uses even when the baby isn’t a baby any longer. We always keep one of these in the car for last-minute playdates at the park or picnics at the beach. And they’re a great lightweight blanket for walks as well (and can doulbe as sunshades on the strollers). Thanks for the review! I can’t wait to see the new designs in person.simmworksfamily
