I love chocolate. I love it even more than cake! Shocking, I know, but it is true. I wouldn’t call myself a chocolate expert, but I’m definitely a fan. One thing my taste buds have come to realize is that Belgian chocolate is… mmmm. Very mmmm. It’s rich, smooth, and fulfilling. It’s not as light and airy as the milk chocolates I usually eat. Until recently, I’ve only had small nibblings of Belgian chocolate (usually as a dipped coating or topping shavings). When the opportunity presented itself to sample truffles by Guylian, you know I had to go for it!
I received a generous amount of chocolatey goodness that I’m tempted to keep all to myself, but I will probably share with family and friends. Only a few pieces though! Let’s not go overboard. Now, these are not your ordinary box o’ chocolates. No.. these are made by Belgian master chocolatiers who still use the original handmade recipe that Guy and Lilian used when they started their company together, Guylian Belgian Chocolates.
Love at first bite, my teeth glide through the rich, smooth layers. I savor the decadent chocolate for a moment before the inner truffle flavor joins the mix. Mmm, yum! If you aren’t used to artisanal chocolates, the taste and look can be a bit different. The blend of white, milk, and dark chocolate is perfect and made with 100% cocoa butter. While rich, it is not overly sweet. It has a wonderful balance.
The seashells though, look very much like seashells. I almost couldn’t bite into one! They are very detailed and each one includes the signature “G” pressed into it. Guylian gives back too through Project Seahorse. They have been the main sponsor since 1999 donating more than 1.5 million dollars. Their mission is to conserve the world’s marine ecosystem.
Conclusion: Perfect gift for the chocolate lover in your life!
