My Daughter has Been Captured in Clay! {Review}
There are some really cool gift ideas out there that are perfect for holiday, birthday, and Mother’s Day gifts. Oh and they are great for the grandparents too! What on earth could I be referring to? Well, it’s a special momento. One that can be cherished simply because it reminds you of your little one. Get them… Captured in Clay! This can be through fingerprint jewelry or their profile on decorative plates.
At Captured in Clay, you can get your child’s fingerprints made into jewelry as well as get decorative plates. I was interested in the profile plates since they say a child’s fingerprints aren’t defined until the age of two. I’ll wait until Rissa is at least two years old then before I have her prints in a necklace! I wasn’t sure how well a profile would turn out for Rissa since it seems like she has such small features. I wish her hair was longer for this too! Ah, all in good time, I suppose.
In order to get the plate made, I needed to send a picture of Rissa’s profile. Funny, I have lots of close ups, ears, top and back of head shots, but no profiles. So, I had to try and GET a profile shot. This is NOT easy with a toddler… trust me! She wants to look at my phone and see what I’m doing whenever I try to get a picture of her. One day I was able to get a profile while she was still in her high chair.

Now to see how it gets turned into a plate…
Some of you may remember that Captured in Clay sponsored a gift certificate for our giveaway for the Green Christmas Giveaway Hop back in November. Unfortunately the process of creating the plate took too long for it to arrive in time for the event after I submitted the profile photo. But THEN we had a mishap. A box arrived with a broken plate. I was so sad! Thankfully Stacey was understanding (don’t you hate when a package marked FRAGILE is NOT handled with care?) and got to work making a new one for me. The second one arrived safely!
I think it looks very nice and it will make a wonderful gift for the grandparents!

Profiles are hard to get. You need the help of someone to distract her.slehan
I LOVE that! I am hanging onto the info for gifts for next year! It would be really neat to do a new one every year (or couple years) to see the changes! So neat!leilamombizwmn
I hadn’t thought of doing one each year – now that’s a great idea!!Syrana
I can say as a grandparent that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this and would be so happy to have one of each of my grandchildren. I shall send this post to my daughter because I have a birthday coming up. Thanks!
What a wonderful idea for grandparents AND for parents. They grow up so fast. I am so glad I had my sons foot and hand impressions done when he was 3 weeks old. I look back and can’t believe how little he was.
How cute is this??? This makes such a sentimental gift or just a wonderful memory to capture of your child at a certain age. Thanks for sharing.
