Tales From the Nursery: The Toddler Years

It’s a Wowwee Party! Paper Jamz, Lite Sprites, and Light Strike Oh My!

20111129-010923.jpgThis past weekend I was offered an incredible opportunity.  I was provided with some of the hottest toys of the season and asked to have a party where kids could play with them.  My own daughter is too young for these awesome toys (though my hubby and I kind of wanted to keep a few for ourselves!) so I enlisted the help of my nephews and their friends.  Thankfully my sister-in-law is pretty awesome and even let this whole thing happen at her house!

Before the kids arrived, we had to open all the boxes up and install batteries.  This was entertaining for us, though my nephews were ready to play!  We had Lite Sprites, Paper Jamz and Light Strike items.

Light Strike is like laser tag, so I knew the boys would enjoy playing that.  We had one target vest, 2 large guns (Light Strike Assault) and 1 medium one, plus accessories like a scope!  The boys were very interested in this first.  It didn’t take long before they were off running around, lights flashing, laughter mixed in with shouting

While the boys were running around, the girls were playing relatively quietly with the Lite Sprite set.  They said they didn’t have any at home, but had seen the commercials.  They were very excited to play with them.  The sensor system that works across them is good!  It was amazing to see multiple toys light up without touching anything.  The girls would spin the tree.  It would light up as did the sprites and even the flower playset that is not technically attached.  It was pretty and impressive!  The wand also recognized colors it was placed by too.

The Paper Jamz were a lot of fun.  When I first heard of them I didn’t get it.  I wondered who would play with paper instruments that they bought at the store.  Well, I found out they aren’t really paper… but was glad that some of the other parents had the same misconception I did.  They got to  experience the microphone, pro guitar, Justin Bieber keyboard guitar (keytar), and pro drums.  The youngest girl played just about every instrument while the oldest girl seemed to enjoy the microphone.  For awhile everyone was running around in a big loop no matter what toy they had in hand.  It was amusing!

It was definitely a good time.  The kids were tired but happy by the time they left.  The parents were able to ask me questions about what I do and how I was able to provide their children with these new toys.  I tried to interview the kids to share their feedback, but everyone was too enthralled with what they were doing.  I tried to focus on asking them what their favorite toy or aspect of a set was.  The most common answered I received was that they liked the lights.  Everyone seemed to like how the toys lit up, even above the sounds they may.

Fun! My girls have the Paper Jamz Microphone and they love it. They are only 4 and 5 but love to sing in it and when their older cousins come over, they play with it almost all the time. I like it too and secretly sing with it LOLcallista83
