Tales From the Nursery: The Toddler Years

LUXbutt Organic Cloth Diaper Tester Review

I recently agreed to be a tester for the new LUXbutt organic cloth diaper.  They are one size, snapping, pocket diapers made with organic cotton and an organic hemp/cotton blend.  They are made by two cloth diapering moms who decided to create their own.  These diapers are designed in Canada but are manufactured in China.  Besides diapers, they also create wetbags.  I think expanding into accessories is important!  They are committed to their eco-conscientiousness and ship using recyclable materials and/or reclaimed boxes.  Their commitment to green also extends to their paperless invoices as well

We received the chocolate LUXbutt diaper.  I was amazed at how THIN and TRIM it was.  I worried that one insert was not enough because it’s so slim.  I apologize for Rissa not cooperating well with me for photos, but that side view above – flat butt, right?  The inner lining is nice and soft, which I like.  I had trouble leaving just one insert most of the time so I did double it a few times.  It survived day use and a couple naps.  The pocket and tunnel make it easy to stuff and dads should be able to get their hands in it too.  Laundry went well with a pretty quick drying time.  The lining didn’t get super crunchy when on the drying rack like some of my diapers can get.

I do hope they make some adjustments on the leg elastic.  I found it difficult to adjust because it was hard to see and get at the button.  The numbering on the elastic wasn’t in the same sequence on each side (one was ascending, other descending).  I don’t know if that was an error i its creation or if the are actually adjusting different things.  Some sort of sizing chart guidelines would be helpful to include with the diaper, similar to what Fuzzibunz provides for their leg elastic adjustments.  I also hope there becomes a better way to tuck away the excess elastic after adjustments are made.  Mine kept sticking out.  I tried to tuck them into the flap by the snaps but they wouldn’t stay.

For a tester, it was a pretty good diaper.  I think it can really become an even greater diaper!

Disclosure: I did agree to pay a fee mostly to cover shipping as did all the testers.

loving that another diaper company is trying to use the Fuzzibunz method of adjustments! I’ll have to look for these!

I’m thrilled with their eco – conscientiousness! With that said,I’m not real happy that they are made in China. We need jobs here. If they fix the oddities or have them very cost effective they could be a good purchase.
