I’ve been having a blast trying out Halloween Costumes for Rissa and myself, but Brian has been feeling a bit left out. We knew we had a back up costume for him from a few years ago, but it’s fun to get something different. As the time has ticked away, more and more of the good Mens Halloween Costumes were sold out. Most places we looked were left with super expensive (yet awesome looking) costumes or they were super cheesy.
So when I received the opportunity to work with Party City, I asked him to find something before I took a look around. He decided on being an Old West Barkeep, complete with an accessory mustache….

I think he looks pretty good, don’t you? It fit well and was easy to put on and take off. The holsters can hold beer bottles, though we weren’t quite sure about the extra laces on the holsters. The mustache is really what pulls it all together though! Unfortunately, part of the self adhesive stuck to the packaging when Brian was taking it out, so we’ll need to get creative to make it stay put this weekend. I do think Brian will have to wear it a little everyday this week though… Rissa seemed frightened by the sudden facial hair!
She wasn’t scared of the skull or bloody hand print decorations, but add a goofy mustache and oh no! Look out! Scary time!
Even though I already have a costume, I couldn’t help but look for another one. I figure I’ll be able to alternate them for a couple Halloweens. Maybe switch up the accessories to make the whole ensemble different? I looked through the Womens Halloween costumes at Party City hoping to find one that would match with Brian’s. I didn’t find anything that quite matched to pass for couples so I checked out the gothic section. (Yes, it’s my favorite!)
I found a seductress vampire outfit that I really liked. It even had glovelets with a sparkly cape and a necklace. It was available in plus sizes, so I was pretty happy about that! I ordered it in 2X (which is down a size than the last one). Through the torso it fit very well. It’s long with my short legs so it doesn’t flip/flow outward like the picture. The chest area runs small though. The girls were very .. out there! I couldn’t do much to keep them contained. All-in-all that wasn’t a problem exactly.. it just made the costume sexier than I was looking for. So, it will be reserved for an adults only costume party someday! The glovelets were a bit baggy due to my short arms and how long they are. If I was more average height, things would have fit a little better, I think.

I had to add on my own accessory after looking through the Halloween wigs. I have a couple others, but I wanted something to go with this particular costume. I found a great black and red wig that I just had to have! It looked so great online. However, most wigs look awesome in stock photos but I can never seem to make them look half decent. I must be wig-challenged or something! I even got a wig cap to help. I hated how the other wigs easily let my hair escape AND made my head super itchy. The wig cap did help keep my hair in place. The wig was comfortable enough to wear for an extended period of time, which puts it way above my other one!
I almost didn’t want to show you the product modeling. The cling around my belly made me very self conscious and then I couldn’t get the wig right. But… I need to show you!

Not one of my better pictures!
Party City has a large costume selection and also carries party supplies, decorations, baking supplies, etc. Be sure to check them out for all your party needs online and in store!

The barkeep outfit could be modified for a Steampunk costume.
