Tales From the Nursery: The Toddler Years

Water Wear Swim Diaper Cover Review

We didn’t take Rissa to the pool or the lake this summer since she was pretty little. I don’t know how to swim and am not very comfortable in the water. I don’t want to influence Rissa inadvertently but I know she needs to start getting used to being in water. Her dad can swim so he’s going to have to do the teaching while I freakout on dry land.

She does have fun in her bathtub though, so that’s a start!

I received the opportunity to review the Water Wear Swim Diaper Cover. I picked the Pink Sealife – super cute! I love the little bows on the legs! It arrived shortly before we stayed in a whirlpool suite at a hotel out of town. It was perfect timing since I didn’t have any swim diapers for her.

This swim diaper is meant to cover a disposable diaper to keep everything contained. If you are planning to go to a public pool they now want even disposable swim diapers covered for health and safety reasons. Since we don’t use disposables I can’t tell you how well it covers those. I can tell you that something is needed inside the cover to absorb urine or it will leak out (oops!). i found out the hard way while trying it on her, but she wasn’t in any water. I am able to put it over a fitted cloth diaper or a prefold. I wasn’t sure if I needed a special cloth swim diaper, so I was glad I could make this cover work for us.

I never thought about this before, but it makes sense that you would need something like this. I’ll keep this in mind for future baby shower gifts. Thanks!hardertobreathe
