Fashion Genius: The Most Intelligent Fit & Style Tool For Plus Sized Women #msm

I previously shared with you about Sonsi’s revolutionary outfitting tool which helps plus sized mamas like myself assemble a complete outfit so we can see how things look together. The tool was pretty new when I wrote about it before and they’ve made more changes since then.

Big changes.

The improvements are less to do with the actual tool function and more with finding great fitting clothes – for you!

Math + Fashion = Fashion Genius

A large number of our population (about 60%!) is made up of plus sized women, yet their fashion needs have not been met. Some businesses are starting to recognize this, such as Sonsi. Sonsi is a huge plus-size clothing hub where women can shop for a variety of brands offered by Lane Bryant, Catherine’s, and Fashion Bug. While we may wear the same size, we don’t fit in them the same way.

My style!

After lots of research that included surveys and measurements, patterns of clothing that fit and flattered different body types emerged. A database was compiled and that math was applied to the clothes available. The new tool is called Fashion Genius. Curvy women can take a couple surveys to describe their body type, how their clothing tends to fit, and rate a few example styles. You then receive recommendations of clothes that fit into your style profile!

I really like how the suggested articles of clothing give me a better idea of how it should fit on me. It’s not a perfect tool, but it suggested a few things I would definitely want to wear (or at least would consider wearing). I had (too much) fun browsing to pull entire outfits together. I could even selected different colors!

I saved these outfits for later. I want to remember these when I have some money to shop!

I highly recommend signing in before taking any surveys. I ended up taking the tops survey about 3 times and the bottoms survey twice because I didn’t sign in first. Learn from my error! I thought selecting to sign i after I completed the first survey would save it and apply it to my account but it did not. Though by the 3rd time I was filling it out, I was asked some different questions that weren’t previously asked. I felt all of the questions I came across should be asked since they all seemed to lend a hand to my recommendations.

I expected more recommendations but only the first few rows on the first page of each category (tops, bottoms, bras) had ++ (very fitting to my style) or + (they hope I’ll like it) from my style profile. I recognize that this tool JUST launched so I’m excited to see what else gets added to it! I hope that more of the inventory will be rated for me soon as well. It’s pretty easy to use the tool itself, but some of the overall navigation can be a little frustrating at times. You can check it out by visiting Sonsi.com.

Have you tried this new tool yet? What did you think of it?

So cool! It’s almost like a personal shopper…if you can afford the recommendations. That is often a problem with sites like this. What did you think about the pricing of the recommendations?ohsosavvymom
