World Breastfeeding Week ~ August 1-7 and the Big Latch On!
I’ve now been breastfeeding for 9 months. Since Rissa is my first baby, it has been a tremendous learning experience. While I’d like to say I was pro-breastfeeding and an advocate before my daughter was born… I wasn’t… not exactly.
I never had a problem with breastfeeding previously, but I wasn’t as hyper-aware of everything going on. It was something natural that was a feeding option and that was about the extent of my concern. But now that I’m a nursing mom, I care about it. I am sad that it wasn’t more prevalent before I did it myself. But, here we are.
So, as you can imagine, I’d never heard of World Breastfeeding Week or the Big Latch On Event before this year. Even if I’m late jumping on the breastfeeding advocacy bandwagon – better late than never, right?
You can look to see if there is a Big Latch On location near you on August 6th. Because at 10:30am, lots of woman will be nursing simultaneously! I’m bummed that the closest one near me is a few hours away. Since I learned about the event only about a month or two ago, I couldn’t organize a local event like I hoped. Maybe next year?!
I’ll be cheering ya on from home though! Anyway… I’m hoping to share something about breastfeeding with you each day this week and hope you’ll share too! Let’s re-normalize breastfeeding!

Thank you so much for this information!
I had no idea- and happened to post information about the benefits of breastfeeding this morning on my blog. Now, I feel prescient- but I don’t deserve it.
I will pass this along!

You are welcome! I am happy to hear that at least one more person knows about it now! :)Syrana
