No More Plate Throwing! Boon Inc Saucer Review
Rissa has started solids, so that means she needs her own baby sized dishes! Okay, so I don’t always give her dishes. Often let her just eat off her tray, but that requires a lot more clean up between meals for me. Most dishes don’t work too well since she doesn’t understand that they are meant to stay on the tray. She’ll pick them up and shake them, often getting food all over herself, the chair AND my floor!
Boon Inc. features a lot of innovative baby gear for dining and organization. From storage of stuffed animals, to bath toys, to dishes, they have a lot of interesting things I want to try. Recently I received the opportunity to review a sectioned sauced which is supposed to STAY PUT! I had to try this! Just.Had.To.
The dish I received is an edgeless sectioned saucer which retails for $7.49. It is supposed to be hard for baby to grab and lift and it’s not supposed to slide around like most other plates do. She doesn’t know better and thinks it’s fun to lift up her plates and bang them on the tray – food and goop a-flyin’. She’s happy as a clam doing this while I’m freaking out about where to start the clean up process… not to mention having no idea how much she actually ate and not able to recover most of it to re-serve to her.
When our Boon saucer arrived, I attempted to tear into the package so I could wash it right away. I found it hard to get out of the package, but at least I knew the plate was completely encased. {Update: 6/3/11 – I’ve learned the packaging has been changed and is easier to open than what I received.} I’ve washed it by hand as well as on the top rack of the dishwasher. The bottom rim of the plate has like a rubber lining. This keeps the plate from sliding around and makes the saucer flush with her tray.
Rissa cannot pick it up and doesn’t try too hard since it doesn’t have anywhere for her little fingers to get underneath. She’s also able to scoop her food off it without it tilting, tipping, or sliding around. It makes things nicer for the both of us! I do wish it was easier to stack with other dishes in the cupboard, but I guess I just need more Boon saucers, huh?
I’ll continue to use this plate because Rissa hasn’t figured out how to toss it!

I just love all of their products! By far, my favorite is the spoon they developed to put on the end of sprout (and the like) baby food pouches.mryjhnsn
We have a couple of these and the wonderful spoons that can be angled. I love it, although they only took a couple of months to learn how to pick it up. They throw it much less than other plates
