Baby Abuelita Productions Review

Today I’m happy to bring you a unique gift idea for new mothers, young children, and/or grandparents! (And a chance to win one!) I received the opportunity to work with Baby Abuelita Productions to review and giveaway one of their adorable dolls. Seriously, these are so cute. I’m excited to share them with you because I think they are a great gift for kids, especially if your child enjoys Dora and/or Diego.
If you haven’t heard of them before, let me introduce you to them:
Originally conceived by two working mothers – a teacher and a psychotherapist – “Los Abuelitos” were designed to preserve Hispanic heritage for every generation. Abuelita Rosa and Abuelito Pancho are sweet, loveable, lullaby singing dolls who invite you to join them on a nostalgic journey as they sing “canciones de cuna”, the traditional Hispanic songs of early childhood.
These songs were traditional games and nursery rhymes passed down from generations. As more Hispanic children are born in the United States, these Hispanic-Americans are losing part of their heritage since these songs are not being taught because older Hispanics are forgetting them.
There are currently six different dolls available: Abuelita Rosa, Abuelito Pancho, Baby Andrea, Baby Tita, Baby Mimi, and Javier. They also have DVDs and books for sale, coloring pages, and more!
I chose Baby Tita for Rissa to review. Isn’t she adorable? The box is even cute – it looks like she’s sitting in a rocking chair!
Thankfully, she arrived safely despite FedEx destroying our package again.
The box does say for ages 2+, so I make sure to supervise Rissa while she’s playing with Baby Tita.
Rissa seems to enjoy her. She smiles at her and explores the different textures of her socks, dress, and hair. Everything is sewn in place so I don’t have to worry about parts coming off and Rissa swallowing them. Her hair is made of yarn and is well secured too. I gave it a pretty good yanking test (pobre Tita!) and none of it came out in my hands. I figure I can pull on her harder than my daughter. I still keep an eye on her when she’s playing with her hair though.
I also love the songs. They are cute and sound like a little kid! Some recordings sound too fake to me when they are trying to sound like a real person, but they did a great job I think. Printed English translations also came with, which I was happy to see. I know some Spanish, but am not fluent enough to translate all the songs Tita sings. Rissa loves when I sing to her, so I know she will continue to enjoy this doll! Plus, what a great way to expose her to another language? I know it worked for me to use songs in my Spanish classes (as well as to watch familiar animated movies in Spanish).
I am happy with Baby Tita and am thinking about getting Javier for a friend of mine who’ll be having a boy in a few weeks. (I hope she doesn’t read this and spoil the surprise!)
One thing I’d change? I’d love longer songs or maybe a couple more.

I would like to win baby Mimi. We just had a miscarriage and my son keeps talking about the babies, so I think this would help him. Plus he’s already bilingual with chinese, but he needs to know spanish living in texas.
