For the past month I’ve been using three TheraBreath products:

1. Toothpaste
2. Oral Rinse
3. Mouth Wetting Lozenges

The toothpaste and rinse I’ve used daily since they arrived.  I use the lozenges when I need them, which is a few times a week.

I never really thought about the importance of such products being safe for diabetics until I got pregnant.  I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and had to pay attention to what I was eating.  I had a bad cold near the end of my pregnancy and had to ask what cough drops I could use that wouldn’t affect my blood sugar! At least now I know these lozenges would be safe to use, especially since I’m likely to develop gestational diabetes with subsequent pregnancies.

But do they work?

The first day I tried these products, the first thing I noticed was the directions to put the toothpaste on a dry toothbrush.  I’m so used to wetting mine right away, but I followed the directions.  It felt surprisingly good on my gums.  Next up was the oral rinse, which tasted faintly of mint but there was no burning!  My mouth felt fresh, but I still had some morning breath.  I didn’t expect it to work miracles after only one brushing and rinse though!

Mouth did feel and kind of tasted like after a good polish at the dentist – I love that!  My mouth still felt nice and smooth after eating cereal and still felt good and smooth, with a hint of mint in my mouth, after lunch! Next I tried a lozenge.  I could smell the mint as soon as I opened the box.  They are small, kind of like a chicklet, they pack a punch! It has a minty flavor at first (not overpowering) then a citrusy flavor. The combination tasted a little weird to me but not bad.  It definitely cleared up my pepper breath.  I could tell when it was in the second stage – it made my tongue tingly!

That weekend I had my husband and a friend of ours try the lozenges after dinner.  They both said the flavor was a bit odd, but agreed that it kept their breath noticeably fresher for quite awhile afterwards.

I’m used to mints and gum seeming to help at first, but fading fast after they are gone.  This has not been the case with the lozenges from my experience.  I’ve also grown accustomed to the mandarin mint flavor.  I continue to use the toothpaste and oral rinse.  My teeth haven’t felt this smooth other than when I get cleanings at the dentist.  It really seems to have decreased my plaque buildup.  I still have a bit of morning breath, but overall my mouth feels and tastes cleaner, fresher and wetter from these products.

There was even a morning where I grabbed my old toothpaste by mistake (I wanted to use TheraBreath everyday until I posted my review) and my mouth honestly didn’t feel as fresh and clean.  The TheraBreath toothpaste doesn’t foam/suds up the way other toothpastes do, but I’m learning that this is not necessarily a sign of it working as I want it to!

The Good:

• Natural ingredients, no alcohol, no animal testing, kosher, and approved for diabetics
• Buy online or in stores (such as Walmart, Walgreens, CVS)
• Effective (worked for me anyway!)
• Variety of products
• No burning (rinse)
• Mild flavor

The Not So Good:

• Flavor can be a bit funky, but it’s not bad or overpowering
• More expensive than other toothpastes

I will continue to use TheraBreath down to the last drop!
