Medela Breast Pump Quality Recall
This message is to all the pumpin’ mamas out there that own a Medela Pump In Style Advanced (metro, shoulder bag, or backpack).
I received an email this morning that there is a quality recall. Good timing too, because I was wondering why it seemed like my pump’s suction was decreasing – even when cranking it up! And it started making this loud clicking noise. Now I know why!
I don’t pump frequently, just in the morning. But for some of you who work full-time or exclusively pump, it’s extremely important to have a good quality pump.
So, if your pump is doing any of the following:
- the pump will not turn on,
- the pump turns off on its own,
- the pump reduces or loses suction during the pumping process, or
- the pump is making a clicking noise.
please go to Medela to request your replacement. They will send you the replacement and provide postage to mail your old pump to them once the new one arrives.

Very good to know!! Thanks for posting!mmommie
Welcome! Today I received an update that they’ve narrowed it down to pumps made in Feb & March 2010 and need the serial number. If it doesn’t have a serial number (like mine) it isn’t part of the recall.
Now I have to see what the deal is since mine is acting up.Syrana
