10 Things I’m Thankful for This Thanksgiving

Throughout the year I do my fair share of complaining. I do my best to keep in mind what I’m blessed with, but sometimes it helps to vent and blow off a little steam. Still, there are things that slip between the cracks and I begin to take them for granted. I’m going to take a moment today to share some of the things I’m thankful for. I hope you’ll join me and share some of your own in the comments below!

(It sort of feels like a Thanksgiving school project, doesn’t it?)

In 2012, I am thankful for…

  1. My husband.  Seriously he is awesome. He’s attentive, helpful, loving, smart and funny. So glad I found him.
  2. My family.  Even when they drive me nuts, I still love them.
  3. My children.  Once upon a time I didn’t think I’d be able to get pregnant without medical intervention, but now I’m about to be blessed with a second child.
  4. My friends – both online and off.  All my friends are different, but they offer a variety of support and entertainment. Life would be dull without them.
  5. My body.  If you know me, this might seem odd because I struggle with my self-image. However, I’ve learned that my body is pretty incredible when it comes to birth and breastfeeding. It is amazing what it can do and I’m fortunate that it knows more about what it is doing than me.
  6. My blog.  It’s been an amazing outlet for me and has made it possible for me to stay home with my kids. It also connects me with more moms!
  7. Opportunities.  I’ve been blessed with some incredible opportunities this year, mostly stemming from the blog. I’ve been able to work with amazing brands and bloggers, attend a couple press trips, promote local events, and attend conferences.
  8. My basic needs being met.  Not everyone can say theirs are met on a daily basis. It’s easy for me to take this for granted.
  9. My health.  Sure, I need to lose weight, but overall I’m pretty healthy.
  10. My material “stuff.”  This might seem like a selfish thing to be thankful for, but I am going to own it. I’m not a minimalist and I like my things. I’m lucky to be able to have a lot of what I have. So rather than feel entitled to material things, I’m thankful I’m able to get them, have them, and enjoy them.

I could go on and break these down into more specific items, but I think these 10 summarize just about everything I have to be thankful for right now. What about you?

Today is Thanksgiving and I'm not with any family but I did talk to some on the phone. My aunt is too elderly with health issues and can't travel. My sister just had knee surgery and also can't travel. My niece, her daughter, is pregnant and due in a few weeks. She doesn't want to travel either. My other sister and her husband spent Thanksgiving with his parents up by Chicago. I have Multiple Sclerosis so I don't travel away from my home too much either; it's just easier for me to be close to where my medical resources are and where I feel safer should I have a relapse. That's the thing with MS you never know when you wake up every day if you'll have a relapse or not. However, I am thankful though, for the family I do have, even tho we aren't together, we try to stay in contact.

Great thankful list! Family is at the top of my list, as well.

When counting my blessings, my husband is always at the top of my list. He loves me more and better than anyone ever has in my life. I would like you to know though that you and a few select bloggers are also on my list of things to be thankful for. When we were financially at our worst about two years ago (my husband was injured fighting a fire and I lost my business both happening within 2 weeks of each other)I started entering the giveaways as a way to escape thinking about how awful everything turned so quickly. They turned out to be my saving grace. I made some wonderful friends, I even won enough in coupons and prizes to keep us afloat until I could manage to land 2 full-time jobs until my husband became well enough to work again. We're better now, but I know you probably have no idea how much the work you put into this blog can really change and help people. So today, I'd like you to know, I'm thankful for your giving heart and all it does to help others.
